These are pictures from the SONY TRV950 camcorders, either taken with the photo mode or captured from interlaced videos. Some had been resized, cropped and Photoshop enhanced. Some of the videos of night birds were taken with the TRV900 camcorder instead of the TRV950. This is because TRV900 has much better low light sensitivity.

In Jan 2003 bought the Williams-Optics DCL4337 40 mm plossl with which I take most of the videos after Jan 2003. This eyepiece is sharper than my previous 40mm plossl. However, it produces significant vignetting near the higher end of the camcoder zoom.

I have also bought the Surplus Shed 50 mm military surplus plossl which comes in 2" barrel. Cheang Kum Seng had been able to remove the lens assembly and remount it into a 1.25" barrel. He also trimmed the excess length to reduce eyepiece-camcorder distance. This eyepiece is sharper than my old 40mm plossl but not as sharp as the DCL4337. It constitutes a good compromise between sharpness and vignet-free video. A mild degree of vignetting is apparent when shooting against the sky with the camcorder near the telephoto zoom end. With a darker background, vignetting becomes inapparent. Some of the videos and pictures after May 2003 are taken with this eyepiece.

Since Jul 2003, Cheang had also modified and remounted the Surplus Shed 80mm eyepiece into 1.25" barrel. Vignetting with this eyepiece is even less than that of the 50mm but the useable zoom range is not much more. The combined zoom is sometimes relatively inadequate when small birds are videoed from a distance. In addition, this eyepiece is very long, making it difficult to mount the camcorder or change eyepiece in the field. Hence, I am reserving this eyepiece mainly for shooting birds in flight.

I bought an Olympus C5060 in June 2004 and got Cheang to make his adaptor for me to use with the Swarovski scope and its 20-60X zoom eyepiece. I find the adaptor easy to use and the camera suitable for digiscoping, although I seldom indulge into it. Some of the albums after June 2004 contain digiscoped pictures with this setup. I am still taking videos as a preference.

20 Jan 2004 I have added a Nov-Dec Album. This contains pictures from Taman Negara Sungei Relau (Merapoh), Kuala Gula, Malim Nawar and some other areas. Highlights are the large green pigeon, red-throated sunbird, brown-throated sunbird, blue-rumped parrot, blue-crowned hanging parrot, wrinkled hornbill, various bulbuls and flowerpeckers. A scarlet-rumped trogon, oriental pied hornbill and a cream-colored squirrel are also included.
28 Jul 2004 Finally, I have found the time and uploaded pictures from the Thung Yai Naresuan Thailand trip in Dec 2003- Jan 2004. This contains among others pictures of a hoopoe, flycatcher, large hawk cuckoo and a rafflesia.
2 Aug 2004 Three new albums from my Myanmar trip in Mar 2004 had been added. Part 1 illustrates all four Myanmar endemic birds and some photos. Part 2 illustrates video grabs from Moeyingi Wetland to Bagan, Part 3 illustrates video grabs from Mt Victoria to Hlawga Park.
3 Aug 2004 A new June 2004 Album had been created. This contains the black-and-red broadbill and a few other birds, mostly from Kinta Nature Park. Pictures taken with TRV950 and C5060. Some heron pictures are suitable for use as wall papers.
5 Aug 2004 Another album from Fraser Hill May 2004 had been added. This contains pictures of the Collared Owlet and a few other common birds digiscoped with the photomode of my SONY TRV950.
9 Aug 2004 Another album for Jul 2004 had been added. This contains pictures and video grabs from Kinta Nature Park. It includes pictures of a pair of nesting Piend Fantail and some herons. The latter are at a size suitable for use as wall paper. Video grabs of the Flyeater and Little Bronz Cuckoo are also available.
14 Sep 2004 Added an Aug 2004 album from Bukit Brinchang. Here I have a few pictures of the White-throated Fantail, Chestnut-crowned Laughingthrush, Large Niltava and some flycatchers.
