This album contains pictures and videos taken mostly with the Surplus
Shed 50mm eyepiece which had been remounted into 1.25" barrel and had
its extra metal in front trimmed off. The modified eyepiece is fairly sharp
and produces very little vignetting in the photo mode while the camcorder
is near the telephoto zoom end. In the video mode, vignetting is less than
in the photo mode and this makes it very easy to compose the video. However,
some mild degree of vignetting is still apparent against a sky background
with the camcorder near its telephoto end of the zoom. I have found this
eyepiece to be very useful (combined with my TRV900) for videos of owl
at night because of its appropriate zoom range giving me the best composition
and brightness.
I also have the recently modified Surplus Shed 80 mm eyepiece
which virtually eliminates all vignetting at the telephoto zoom end but
the effective usable zoom range appears less than the 50mm. The White-throated
Kingfisher and Ruby-cheeked Sunbird in this album were recorded with this
eyepiece. It is very long making it very difficult to mount the camcorder
and so I am reserving it mainly for shooting birds in flight.
Here are pictures taken using the photo mode of the TRV950 camcorder,
unless otherwise specified. Some pictures had been resized and cropped.
Most have undergone photoshop enhancements. The Peaceful Dove picture and
fungus pictures were taken with only the camcorder zoom. Click on thumbnails
